Prof Maxwell Nwachukwu OPARA
Professor M. N. Opara is a Lecturer in Veterinary Parasitology in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Abuja, Nigeria. He graduated from the University of Ibadan as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM); MSc (Cellular Parasitology) and PhD (Veterinary Parasitology) all from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He started his teaching career in 2001.
Prof Opara has over 93 Publications in accredited Journals and some in books of proceedings; with a chapter in the textbook, “Zoonosis” published by INTECH OPEN ACCESS PUBLISHER, Krautzeka, Croatia.

He has attended several International Workshops and trainings such as:
- Three weeks workshop on Veterinary Public Health, Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Centre for International Cooperation (MASHAV) and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Centre for International Agricultural Development Cooperation (CINADCO) of the Government of the State of Israel. Shefayyim, Israel; 2005.
- Twelve weeks training in Molecular diagnostic techniques and Bioinformatics at CIRAD, Guadeloupe, French West Indies; 2011.
- Two weeks International Training course on “IT2013: Computer Applications for the Analysis & Management of Natural Resources: Geomatics”, Yaounde, Cameroon, 2013 by the United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa.

A Professor and More...
Prof Opara was a Visiting Professor in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology, Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM), University of Saskatchewan, Canada, 2017 – 2018 and Department of Animal Science, University of Uyo, Nigeria; 2012 – 2013.
He received the STVM / CIRAD Alain Provost Award in 2007 at Merida, Mexico and the 2013 African Foundation fellowship of the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP) in Perth, Australia.
He is a co – founder of Tropical Wildlife Domestication Centre (TWDC), an NGO tasked with the objectives to: reduce the heavy hunting pressure on endangered wildlife species, develop indigenous technology in the breeding of local species, consumptive utilisation of protein supplies to satisfy the craving of Africans for the bushmeat delicacy, reduce orphan wildlife species from reckless hunters who hunt for nursing wild species, engage in the creation of awareness for the conservation of endangered wildlife species.
