The revitalization of two lions at a conservation centre in Nigeria was carried out after a video of two malnourished and dying lions went viral. This was an ugly incident, and on hearing about the news, Francis Abioye and his other colleagues set out to save these lions.
The Lions were put under intensive care. Their rooms were cleansed and disinfected and they were adequately fed and drugs were given to them
Beyond reviving the lions, other carnivores in the Zoo were well-fed and revived. More cows were purchased and the lions also had a taste of pig meat.
After a few months of painstaking efforts from the conservation professionals, they were able to fully revive the lions. Other carnivores in the Zoo were back to their full strength and they were all looking healthier and more enthusiastic.
We are so glad for the success of this project and appreciate everyone who supports the project and our other projects.
Watch the video below to see the efforts made in reviving the lions and their state a few months after the quick intervention.
